ELEVATOR MALFUNCTION

Elevators are one of the safest modes of transportation available; however, they can on occasion malfunction due to their sophisticated automatic controls.

WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY

1. At the telephone panel, push the call button.

2. Phone will be automatically answered by 24-hour Answering Service.

3. Provide the operator the building name, address and elevator cab number.

4. Remain calm.

5. Do not try to force open an elevator door.

6. Should a medical emergency take place while in a malfunctioning elevator, have the operator contact the Police/Rescue Squad and they will respond immediately. They have 24-hour access to the building.

7. In the event of a power outage, the elevator cabs are equipped with emergency lighting, which is designed to come on shortly after a power outage. The elevator is designed to return to the first floor during a power outage.
